WHAT WE DO
Integrated Citizens Empowerment and Development Organization (ICEDO) is a non-profit, non-political and community-driven organization committed to promoting inclusive and sustainable development across Malawi. Rooted in the principles of empowerment, accountability, and social justice, ICEDO envision a modern fully transformed and highly empowered Malawi, where all citizens enjoy equal opportunities, justice, dignity, and sustainable livelihood leading to a graduating from the status of a third world country and fully automated to joining a G20 cohort where all communities live in harmony under the umbrella of meaningful and impactful development across the religious, social, economic and geo-political divides.
In response to prevailing social, economic and development challenges affecting citizens –especially women, youth, and vulnerable populations -ICEDO believes that communities thrive when citizens are informed, included, and actively engaged in the development process. ICEDO has position itself as a driver of transformative development aligned with Malawi’s long –term aspirations as articulated in Malawi 2063 (MW2063) and global commitments under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Our mission is to restore hope among Malawians that have been affected by political man-made poverty, abuse, violence, disease and other natural calamities through community empowerment to become agents of change

PROGRAM 1: EDUCATION, HEALTH, AND SANITATION
PROGRAM 1: EDUCATION, HEALTH, AND SANITATION
The Education, Health and Sanitation Program aims to improve knowledge, wellbeing, and dignity of communities by addressing preventable diseases, low literacy levels, and poor sanitation practices. ICEDO promotes life –saving health education, functional literacy, and community –led sanitation that empower households to take responsibility for their own health.
Short Success Story
Agnes, a 42 year old widow, joined an ICEDO adult literacy and health education group. Within one year, she learned to read basic ChiTumbuka and English health messages and adopted improved hygiene practices at home. Her household reported fewer illness cases, and Agnes now serves as a volunteer health promoter in her village, teaching other women about sanitation and child nutrition.

ICEDO promotes holistic transformation by addressing economic, social, moral, and environmental dimensions of development. Communities are supported to identify their own priorities and take collective responsibility for transformation.
Short Success Story
After engaging in ICEDO’s transformation process, one community mobilized itself to repair a broken borehole, plant trees, and establish by –laws to protect shared resources. . The village now reports improved unity, cleaner surroundings, and stronger community cooperation.

Program 3: Youth and Women Socio –Economic Empowerment Program
Program 3: Youth and Women Socio –Economic Empowerment Program
This program equip women and youth with skills, savings mechanisms, and entrepreneurship support to promote self –reliance and economic dignity. Emphasis is placed on VSLAs, small business, and agribusiness.
Short Success Story
A VSLA of 48 widows supported by ICEDO enabled members to access small loans. Modester (50 years) started a vegetable business, doubled her income, returned to school, and now mentor other girls on saving and entrepreneurship.
